Wayne Stallings and Justin Everett Win 2 Day Championship

The Eastern NC Bass Challenge finished its 2022 season this past weekend in Washington, NC as our bass tournament trail held its 2-day Championship tournament on the Tar/Pamlico Rivers.

47 teams competed in our final event of the season after it was rescheduled because of Hurricane Ian. After 2 days of competition, Wayne Stallings and Justin Everett were deemed winners after weighing in a 2-day total weight of 32.16 lbs! Wayne and Justin were very consistent in this event as they brought 15.74 lbs to the scales on Day 1 and followed it up on Day 2 with 16.42 lbs.

Wayne and Justin took home a total of $2,500 and 2 commemorative trophies.

2nd Place – Tony Coley / Justin Coley

2nd place was won by the father and son combo, Tony and Justin Coley. They weighed in a 2-day total of 29.60 lbs. After Day 1 of the event, Tony and Justin were in 5th place but they proved to be very consistent over the course of the tournament by weighing in 15 lbs on Day 1 and 14 lbs on Day 2.  They were awarded $1,000.

3rd Place – Brock Rouse / Sammy Barrow

Making a big comeback on Day 2 of the tournament, Brock Rouse and Sammy Barrow won 3rd place this past weekend. The team had a 2-day total of 29.08 lbs. On Day 1 of the tournament, they weighed in 12 lbs and were in 8th place. On Day 2 they brought 16.62 lbs to the Bass Challenge scales and jumped into 3rd place. They took home $800 in cash prizes.

Kolby Jones Tournament Big Fish – Keven Jones / Garris Andrews

Our big fish prize for this event was in honor of Kolby Jones, who suddenly passed away earlier this year. Kolby fished with the Bass Challenge for years and we wanted to honor him as best as we could. We awarded a $500 cash prize and our biggest trophy ever which has Kolby’s name on it, to the angler who caught the biggest bass in this 2-day Championship. On Day 1, Kolby’s dad, Keven Jones, and his partner Garris Andrews weighed in a big ‘ol Tar River bass that weighed 5.92 lbs! Keven also weighed in the biggest bag of bass in the tournament. On Day 1 of the event, he brought 17.36 lbs to the Bass Challenge scales. Keven and Garris were awarded $500 and the Kolby Jones Tournament Big Fish commemorative trophy!

Sunday the Bass Challenge also paid out our annual rewards which include our Super 6 Points Championship and our Stoney Creek Outfitters 2022 Big Bass Prize. We paid out a total of $11,500 this past weekend!
